HIGH STAKES POKER IS BACK! GSN DOESN'T SUCK!

After numerous postings by a GSN executive stating that High Stakes Poker was being picked up, someone came up with a bright idea! EMAIL GSN! So they did and got a response:

"This comment circulating around several poker sites was fraudulently posted by someone claiming to be a GSN board member. While many parts of the statement are inaccurate, GSN has picked up the option on the 5th season of HIGH STAKES POKER and continues to enjoy poker on its air."-Jennifer Minezaki, Director of Public Relations at GSN

Yea! It looks like HSP is back on the air at GSN. So they do like ratings(Go Figure). Well, if it is indeed true, then I guess we here at POKERDONKEYS owe a little apology to the GAME SHOW NETWORK. So here it is........sorry. Okay now that we're all friends again keep posted to POKERDONKEYS: ONLINE POKER BLOG! for the full schedule of Season 5 when it's announced. Go GSN!

POKER AFTER DARK SEASON 4 EPISODE 1

Here is the first episode of NBC's Poker After Dark. Check out the new high stakes cash format!

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

HIGH STAKES POKER IS NOW POKER AFTER DARK?

NBC's Poker After Dark began its fourth season this week. This time, however, the show featured high-stakes cash games with $200/$400 blinds a minimum buy-in of $100k and a maximum of $250k instead of a "winner take all" tournament.
The first table included 21-year-old Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Phil Hellmuth, high-stakes player Mike Baxter, Allen Cunningham, Cirque du Soleil CEO Guy Laliberté and cash-game pro David "Viffer" Peat. Apperantly NBC wanted to recreate the fireworks shared between Dwan and Hellmuth during the National Heads-Up Championship when Dwan's pair of 10's cracked Hellmuth's Aces sending the 11 time braclet winner of on a Phi11-like tantrum.
Leeann Tweeden (pictured above..ouch!), made her debut as the program's new host. Tweeden's career highlights include being a Playboy lingerie model, an FHM cover girl, a longtime correspondent on the The Best Damn Sports Show Period and the honor of being named among the top Hooters Girls of all time.
The new format was inspired by GSN's High Stakes Poker which was pulled off the air due to incredibly high ratings for the network. Thank goodness now GSN can show more episodes of the low rated Press Your Luck and Card Sharks instead. Good job GSN it's not like ratings mean anything. (Idiots)

WPT ON FOX!

WPT is back on TV! It was announced that Fox Sports Net will brodcast season VII of the World Poker Tour.
"The World Poker Tour has a track record as the ultimate brand name in televised poker," said George Greenberg, FSN Executive Vice President of Programming and Production. "FSN is very happy to televise such quality content and we look forward to future programming opportunities with the WPT."
"FSN and News Corporation are two incredible powerhouses in the television industry that have played key roles in the growth and popularity of televised poker," said Steve Lipscomb, WPT Founder, President and CEO. "It couldn't be a better fit for WPT and our fans. We're thrilled."
While details of the official timeslot and viewing schedule have not been disclosed, it is known that the Bellagio Cup, which has just wrapped, will be the focus of the first two episodes of Season VII. Season VI will continue to air on GSN.

Who's left? WSOP 2008 Update!

With only 27 players left in day 7 at the WSOP 2008 the top names are all gone. The last two to fall were Phill Helmuth followed by Mike Matasow...sigh (maybe next year). So who's left? Well, among the finalists are former bracelt winner Brandon Cantu and current chip leader Dennis Phillips. However Poker Donkeys! has found a player among the chip leaders that we believe could win it all. Tiffany "HOTCHIPS" Michelle! That's right, the only girl in the bunch is not only one heck of a player but she's also HOT! Poker Donkeys! fully supports "Hot Chips" on her way to winning the WSOP 2008. You go girl! Now for another HOT girl here's Amy McBride with the video updates from the nice folks at pokerlistings.com.
